DESTINATIONS

The Caribbean

The Caribbean is more than one thing. Young International skips the all-inclusive resorts and looks instead at the islands with a distinct identity — French departments with creole soul, Dutch islands built for divers, and corners of the Caribbean that tourism hasn’t flattened into sameness.

Guadeloupe

4 stories

Guadeloupe is two islands in one — shaped like a butterfly, split between the lush, volcanic rainforests of Basse-Terre and the flatter, sun-drenched beaches of Grande-Terre. Both sides share the same Creole culture, excellent rum distilleries, and French-Caribbean cuisine that’s among the best in the region. Less visited than Martinique and all the better for it.

Bonaire

3 stories

Bonaire is the Caribbean for divers and ocean lovers who skip the resort scene. This Dutch island off Venezuela’s coast protects its reefs fiercely — no cruise ships, no high-rises, just some of the healthiest coral in the region and water so clear you can see 100 feet down. Flamingos wade in salt pans, desert scrub meets turquoise sea, and everything is focused on what lies beneath the surface.

Martinique

4 stories

Martinique is France in the tropics — croissants and rum, Creole spice and Caribbean beaches, all with a French passport. This overseas department blends volcanic peaks and rainforest trails with excellent food, stylish beach clubs, and a cultural identity that’s distinctly its own. The Caribbean with a European twist, and it works beautifully.
