The Most Spectacular Glamping on Lake Khövsgöl

Double Lake by Toilogt: : a luxury camp on a narrow peninsula between two bodies of water — where designer gers, a glowing A-frame lodge, and one of the most pristine lakes on earth combine.

The name tells the whole story. Double Lake by Toilogt sits on a sliver of land between two bodies of water: Lake Khövsgöl on one side, a quieter alpine lake on the other and somehow manages to feel both completely remote and completely luxurious at the same time. This is not your standard Mongolian ger camp. Established in 2018, Double Lake is the most sophisticated glamping experience on Khövsgöl, designed for travelers who want the wilderness without giving anything up.

Double Lake by Toilogt: The Property

Accommodation comes in three forms. The luxury gers are elevated on private decks with proper hotel beds, designer lamps, and a skylight crown that lets the stars in. The A-frame lodge is the showstopper: a spiral staircase, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a wraparound lake-view terrace with a full living area below. The third option is a two-storey lakeside lodge building with individual en-suite rooms, each with its own private balcony looking directly out through the taiga pines to the water. All three feel like someone actually thought hard about what luxury should look like in the Mongolian wilderness. The main lodge glows across the water at night, its warm light reflected perfectly in the lake below.

The Double Lake by Toilogt Experience

Days belong entirely to the lake and the taiga. Horseback riding along the shoreline, fishing in some of Mongolia’s cleanest water, hiking through the surrounding pine forest, and simply sitting on the deck watching the color of Khövsgöl shift from turquoise to deep blue as the light changes. Evenings bring folk music performances and the kind of campfire silence that only exists this far from everything.

Who It’s For

Travelers who refuse to choose between luxury and adventure. Double Lake is sought after by design-conscious visitors who want Mongolia to feel immersive rather than uncomfortable. It is the kind of place you book because the photos don’t look real. Fly one hour from Ulaanbaatar to Murun, then transfer to the lake. For travelers planning a broader itinerary, see our Mongolia travel guide.

The Numbers

Rates from $182 per night for luxury gers, $81/person for the A-frame and around $60 for lodge rooms. All meals included. Accessible via a 1-hour flight from Ulaanbaatar to Murun, followed by a transfer to the Toilogt shore. Open June through September.

Best visited June through September. Early autumn transforms the taiga gold — one of the most beautiful landscapes in Central Asia.
